How to iterate on one document across ChatGPT and Claude

August 22, 2026 · 2 min read

You start something in ChatGPT, then want Claude to improve it. Normally you copy and paste between them and lose the earlier drafts. With DocStash the document lives in one place, at one link, and both tools can work on it. Here is how.

Why switching tools is a pain

  • The document is stuck in the chat. A ChatGPT or Claude document lives inside that tool. To move it, you copy it out and paste it in.
  • You lose the older versions. Each tool only remembers its own chat, so once you switch you cannot go back to an earlier draft.

Keep one document across both tools

  1. Connect both tools to DocStash. Add DocStash to ChatGPT and to Claude below. No coding, no keys.
  2. Save it once. Ask either tool to stash it. You get one link like docstash.ai/<slug>.
  3. Hand it to the other tool. Copy and paste the link and ask for changes. The new version saves to the same link, so it never changes.
  4. Keep every version. Every change from either tool is saved. Go back to any earlier version with one click, no matter which tool made it.
