How to put a Gemini  Canvas on your own domain

3 min read

TLDR

  • A shared Gemini Canvas always lives at a g.co/gemini/share link. There is no way to use your own domain.
  • Save the Canvas to DocStash and connect a subdomain like docs.yourcompany.com.
  • The page goes live on your domain, private until you publish it, and updates in place.

You built a page or an app in Gemini Canvas and you want it at an address with your name on it, not a g.co/gemini/share link. Gemini has no setting for that. Gemini now supports custom connectors, though, so it can save the Canvas to DocStash, and DocStash can serve it from your own domain. Here is how to put a Gemini artifact on a custom domain.

Why a Gemini Canvas can't use your domain

  • One kind of address. Sharing a Canvas creates a g.co/gemini/share link, and that is the only address it gets.
  • Gemini only. The link opens on gemini.google.com, under Google's brand, not yours.
  • Nothing to point a domain at. There is no hosting setting to connect your own domain to.

Publish it on your domain with DocStash

DocStash hosts the pages your AI makes and serves them from a domain you own. Gemini saves the Canvas to DocStash, you connect a subdomain once, and every page you publish lives there, with no Gemini or DocStash branding on it.

Already have the HTML?

  1. Drop the file below. Drag it anywhere on this page, or choose it. It becomes a webpage with its own link, private until you publish it.
    htmlmdtextpdf
  2. Share it. Click Publish for a public link, or share it with specific people.

Let Gemini publish it to your domain

  1. Connect Gemini to DocStash. In the Gemini web app, open Settings, then Connected Apps, add a custom app, and paste the DocStash MCP URL. The button below has the setup.
  2. Ask Gemini to save the Canvas. Say "save this Canvas to DocStash", then stash it from the review link. It stays private until you publish it.
  3. Connect your subdomain. Add a subdomain like docs.yourcompany.com in DocStash settings. For most providers DocStash opens your DNS settings page for you, so you just paste in the CNAME record it shows. It has to be a subdomain, not your bare root domain, because a CNAME can't live at the root.
  4. Publish. The page goes live on your domain as a white-label page, with no Gemini link anywhere and no forced DocStash branding.

FAQ

Can I use a custom domain for a Gemini Canvas?

Not inside Gemini. A shared Canvas is always a g.co/gemini/share link. To serve it from your own domain, save it to a host that supports custom domains, like DocStash.

Does this work for a Gemini artifact as well as a Canvas?

Yes. What Gemini builds in Canvas, a web page, an app or a doc, is the artifact. Gemini saves it to DocStash either way.

Can I use my root domain, or only a subdomain?

A subdomain like docs.yourcompany.com. Custom domains connect with a CNAME record, which DNS doesn't allow on a root domain. For most providers DocStash opens your DNS settings and shows the exact record to add, then checks it for you.

Will the page show Gemini or DocStash branding?

No. The published page is your content at your domain, with no forced branding.

What does it cost?

DocStash is free to start. Custom domains are on Pro.
