How to share an HTMLpage in Slackbeyond your workspace

October 10, 2026 · 3 min read

TLDR
  • Slack has started to display HTML files as pages, but the rollout is uneven, and many workspaces still show code or a download.
  • Even where it renders, the file stays inside Slack. Put the page on DocStash for one link that opens for anyone, in Slack or out of it.
  • If an AI made the HTML, connect it to DocStash and it saves the page to a link for you.
Get started

Slack started rendering uploaded .html files as pages in mid-2026, but the feature has not rolled out properly. In many workspaces the same file still shows as a file card or code. Even where it renders, the file stays inside your workspace, and every change means uploading a new file. A hosted link opens the page anywhere and always shows the latest version. Here is how.

Share an HTML page in Slack

  1. Drop the file into DocStash. Sign in and drag the .html file into your library. It opens as a rendered page with its own link, like docstash.ai/<slug>.
  2. Choose who can open it. Every page starts private. Teammates in your DocStash workspace can already open it when signed in. To share beyond them, publish it so anyone with the link can open it, or share it with specific people.
  3. Post the link in Slack. Slack unfurls it with the page title and a preview image, and one click opens the page in the browser.
  4. Update without reposting. Upload a new version and the same link shows it, so the message in the channel stays current. Every earlier version stays in the history.

Made by an AI? Skip the download

If ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or another AI wrote the HTML, you do not need to save the file and upload it. Connect your AI to DocStash once, then ask it to stash the page. You get a link to post straight away, and any change you ask for later lands at the same link.

FAQ

Can Slack display an HTML file?

Partly. Slack announced in July 2026 that it renders .html files natively, but the rollout is uneven. In some workspaces the file opens as a page, and in others it still shows as a file card or code. HTML pasted into a message always shows as text.

If Slack renders it, why share a link?

A rendered file only opens for people in your Slack workspace, and every change means uploading a new file. A DocStash link opens for anyone you choose, outside Slack too, and always shows the latest version at the same address.

Will the link unfurl in Slack?

Yes. A published DocStash page carries a title, a description and a preview image, which Slack shows as a card under the link.

Can I keep the page inside my team?

Yes. Leave it private, and people in your DocStash workspace open it when signed in, and you can add specific people too. Nobody else can open it, even with the link.

Can I put the page on my own domain?

Yes. On Pro, DocStash can serve your pages from a domain you own, like docs.yourcompany.com.
